professionals who can tackle the crucial challenges of the digital society in areas such as computational science and engineering, digital twin, high-performance computing, and data-intensive computing. By integrating knowledge of classical modeling with expertise in high-performance computing and modern methods of data management and analysis, graduates of this program can find employment in various fields, including research and development centers in both public and private sectors, industrial and scientific technological environments, computing laboratories, companies providing services for the treatment of large amounts of data, financial, banking or insurance institutions, service companies, and independent consulting firms.
The program provides students with a solid methodological foundation in three areas: data analysis and machine learning, mathematical and computational modeling, and computer science, with particular attention to intensive and distributed computing. Students will deepen their skills in some foundational aspects according to their chosen curriculum and can complement their education with courses in applied areas of physical and natural sciences and engineering. Students will acquire not only theoretical knowledge but also the ability to apply it to solve practical problems through individual exercises and group projects. The training will be complemented by seminar courses and an internship and thesis activity that can be carried out at affiliated companies and research institutions.
The course is international and taught in English, organized by the universities of Trieste and Udine, in collaboration with SISSA, ICTP, Area Science Park, and other research institutions in the Trieste area and the Friuli Venezia Giulia region.
